The one collective voice representing our members throughout the state of Michigan for over 50 years. Formed in 1999 when the Michigan Association of Personnel Services (MAPS) joined forces with the Michigan Association of Temporary & Staffing Services (MATSS). MASS is in support of the national organizations,     American Staffing Association (ASA) & National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS).

A combination of talents, energy, resources and programs entering the new millennium as the premier professional association in Michigan serving all areas of the staffing industry!


MISSION STATEMENT


We, the members of the Michigan Association of Staffing Services are a unified body of professionals dedicated to providing confidential staffing services. We are committed to following a code of ethics and are self regulated. We provide member education and professional certification so that we may stay abreast of industry standards in order to consistently deliver high quality service to our clients. The Michigan Association of Staffing Services operates for the mutual benefit of its members, employers and employment seekers. It recognizes that the actions of each member firm impact all other member firms and, as a result, its membership is committed to conducting business in the highest ethical manner.

RESPONSIBILITY TO THE APPLICANT

Extend professional service to all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, physical handicap, veteran status, or marital status. Strive for the right of all individuals who desire to enter the work force to choose their field of endeavor and utilize their capabilities and skills for personal fulfillment and the good of our society.

Information conveyed to a personnel consulting firm by an applicant concerning the applicant's search for employment shall be kept confidential. Representations made to an applicant about specifics of a particular job opening shall conform to the best knowledge of the personnel consultant. An applicant will not be referred to employers who are known to engage in illegal, immoral or questionable business practices.

RESPONSIBILITY TO THE EMPLOYER

Represent the best interest of the employer by serving as an effective extension of the employer's hiring effort. Respect and honor every confidence entrusted by the employer. Employers have the right to expect honest, forthright and wholesome business practices from a personnel consulting firm. An applicant's record, qualifications and job requirements shall be stated to the employer as requested, as accurately as possible. All information about applicants forwarded to an employer shall represent bona fide candidates.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

To promote high standards of ethical practice which will ensure the finest possible service to the public and to encourage professional, business-like relations among all staffing services in the state of Michigan. To advance the knowledge of all staffing service organizations through educational programs and constructive workshops for its members. To represent a superior public image and encourage constructive publicity within other industries and the general public regarding staffing service organizations. To upgrade industry standards of performance by promotion of effective methods for serving employers, employees, applicants, and the public. To represent and promote the interests of its members across the full range of staffing services they provide. To encourage ethical business conduct. To provide information regarding the laws and regulations that apply to staffing services organizations, especially those protecting the welfare of employees. To foster better public understanding of the industry and its role in the economy. To promote an atmosphere of cooperation and camaraderie among its members. To recruit and retain members in order to attain a broad and representative base of the entire staffing services industry. To provide such services, information and communications to help members stay informed about the industry and their business; and above all, To protect the interests of the industry with respect to legislation and regulatory proposals.
